Exciting news! We've been saving for a bigger motorcycle for DH for a couple of years now. He put his smaller bike up for sale last fall, but didn't have any promising bites. This doesn't surprise me because no one wants to buy a motorcycle in the fall around here.
I put the sale ad for the bike back up a few weeks ago, and DH got a call about it. A young guy and his dad came out and looked at it, and a few days later we finished up the paperwork and got the check from the bank. Now to look for another bike....!
I'd been getting out cash for the bike in bits for awhile, since I feel weird going in and withdrawing a large sum in one pop. DH had found a bike a couple hours away that he was very interested in. Unfortunately, he came across it on a Sunday and we didn't have all the money yet. The bike had sold by the time we could go look at it. Two days later, we called about an ad that had been placed over a week prior. The guy finally got back to us, and we were able to go get it!
This bike is beautiful! It's a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King Classic, the two-tone silver and black anniversary edition. It's got under 11,000 miles on it and we bought it from the original owner. This thing doesn't have a scratch on it! We paid $10,000 cash for it. We'll still owe about $800 in "use tax" when we transfer the title and licensing tomorrow, but that was to be expected. I am so happy for DH! After all this time of saving, patience really does pay off!
